The Coast Guard - Hellenic Coast Guard is a military Security Corps.

Its purpose is the guarding and control of the country's ports, all kinds of port works and facilities, apart from marinas and naval forts, the protection of sea fishing, the rescue of those in danger at sea, the handling of various emergency events concerning maritime transport, the safety of navigation and in general the control of the territorial waters of Greece.

The Coast Guard is administratively under the Ministry of Shipping and the Aegean.

His patron saint is Agios Nikolaos.
